My Camera does NOT Turn ONUpdated 4 days ago

ROVE Dash Cam Troubleshooting

My camera does not turn on — here's how to fix it.

Follow these step-by-step options to identify what's preventing your ROVE dash cam from powering on and get back on the road quickly.

🔌
Check the power source
A faulty cable or charger is the most common reason a dash cam won't power on.
💾
Try without memory card
A corrupted or incompatible memory card can sometimes prevent the camera from booting.
🔄
Reset the camera
A quick reset with a paper clip can resolve a frozen or unresponsive dash cam.

Before you begin

Bring the camera indoors and use your iPhone or Android smartphone's USB charger along with the short USB cable included in the ROVE box. Plug everything into a standard 110V wall outlet — not your car — to eliminate vehicle power as a variable.

Work through each option below in order. This process helps pinpoint whether the issue is the cable, the charger, or the camera itself.

Step-by-step troubleshooting

Try these options one by one

Option 1

Test with a different USB cable

Swap to the 12FT long L-shaped power cable or the short 1M USB cable — both are included in your ROVE box. Connect it to your smartphone's USB charger and plug it into a wall outlet.

What to look for: If the camera powers on with a different cable, the original cable is defective and needs to be replaced.
Option 2

Remove the memory card

Eject the microSD card from the camera. Unplug the power cable, then plug it back in. Check if the camera powers on without the memory card inserted.

What to look for: If the camera turns on without the card, the memory card may be corrupted or incompatible. Try a new card.
Option 3

Press the Power button once

With the power cable plugged in, press the Power button once. On some ROVE models, the camera does not automatically power on when connected — a single press of the power button is required.

What to look for: The screen should light up within a few seconds of pressing the button.
Option 4

Perform a hard reset

Locate the Reset button at the bottom of the dash cam. Use a straightened paper clip or a pen tip to press and hold the reset button once while the power cord is plugged in.

If the camera still does not turn on, unplug the power cable first, then repeat the reset process.

⚠️ Where to find it: The Reset button is located at the bottom of the camera, near the Serial Number label (R2XXXXXXXXX).

Quick troubleshooting order

Swap cable → Remove memory card → Press Power button → Perform hard reset → Contact ROVE support
