ROVE WiFi Setup Experience

Connect your ROVE dash cam without the guesswork.

Follow this quick guide to connect your ROVE dash cam to the ROVE app, view live footage, download videos, adjust settings, and check for firmware updates directly from your smartphone.

Step-by-step setup

Connect your dash cam to the ROVE app

Power on your ROVE dash cam

Start your vehicle or connect the camera to power. Wait until the dash cam fully turns on and reaches the normal recording screen.

Turn on WiFi mode

Press and hold the WiFi button for about 2 seconds. On most button-style ROVE models, this is done using the Emergency Lock / WiFi button.

Connect your phone to the dash cam WiFi

Open your phone’s WiFi settings and select the ROVE dash cam network shown on the camera screen. If asked for a password, enter the WiFi password shown in your camera/app instructions.

Open the ROVE app

Once your phone is connected to the dash cam WiFi, open the ROVE app and connect to your camera. You can now view live video, download recordings, and manage camera settings.

Check for firmware updates

While connected to the dash cam in the ROVE app, open the app menu and check the Firmware Update section. Follow the on-screen instructions if an update is available.

Pro tip for iPhone and Android users

The dash cam WiFi is used for connecting your phone to the camera. It is normal if your phone says there is “No Internet Connection” while connected to the dash cam WiFi. Stay connected to the dash cam WiFi, then return to the ROVE app.

Troubleshooting

If your phone will not connect

Turn off mobile data temporarily Some phones switch away from the dash cam WiFi because it does not provide internet. Temporarily disabling mobile data can help your phone stay connected.
Forget and reconnect to the dash cam WiFi In your phone WiFi settings, forget the ROVE dash cam network, then reconnect again.
Stay close to the camera For the best connection, keep your phone near the dash cam while connecting or downloading videos.
Restart the dash cam and app Close the ROVE app, power cycle the dash cam, turn WiFi back on, and try connecting again.
