ROVE Dash Cam Recording Troubleshooting

I have missing videos on my ROVE dash cam

Missing videos can happen if the camera loses power, the memory card has an issue, the date/time is incorrect, or settings were changed. Use this overnight test to confirm whether your dash cam can record continuously without interruption.

✅ This test helps confirm whether the issue is caused by the camera, memory card, or vehicle power source.
🔌
Use stable power
Test the camera at home using a wall USB charger and ROVE's short USB data cable.
⚙️
Restore defaults
Reset the dash cam to default settings, then set the correct date/time and format the card.
⏱️
Run an overnight test
Let the camera record overnight, then verify the total trip time and the recorded files in the morning.
Before you begin

Test the dash cam away from the vehicle first

If videos are missing, the fastest way to isolate the cause is to remove the vehicle from the equation. Bring the camera inside your home and power it using a stable wall outlet. This helps confirm whether the camera and memory card can record continuously without car power interruptions.

During this test, do not change extra settings. Keep the setup simple so the result is easier to confirm.

Step-by-step test

Follow these steps in order

Step 1
Stable power test

Power the dash cam at home

Bring the camera inside your home. Use your iPhone or Android phone's USB charger and ROVE's short USB data cable from the box. Plug the camera into your home's 110V wall outlet.

⚠️ Important: Make sure the power does not get interrupted during the test. If power disconnects, the camera may restart or turn off.
Step 2
Playback check

Check video recordings using Playback Mode on the Dash Cam or the ROVE App, including the Events Tab.

Before continuing the overnight test, verify whether videos are actually missing by reviewing recordings directly on the dash cam or through the ROVE App.

How to check videos on the dash cam:
• Press the MODE button until you enter Playback Mode
• Browse through recorded clips using the UP/DOWN buttons
• Open videos and confirm whether recordings are missing or interrupted
✅ Using the ROVE App: Connect to the dash cam WiFi, open the ROVE App, then review videos inside the Album/Playback section.
Step 3
Verify files

Check the memory card on a PC/Mac

Insert the memory card into your PC or Mac and check if all videos were recorded correctly. This helps confirm whether the camera saved clips properly.

What the results mean:
• All videos are recorded: The dash cam and memory card are likely working correctly.
The issue may be related to vehicle power or installation.
• Videos are still missing: The memory card may be faulty, too slow, worn out, or the camera may need further troubleshooting.
Step 4
Reset & prepare

Restore default settings, set date/time, then format the card

If videos are still missing after checking recordings, go to the camera's System Settings and restore the camera to Default Settings. After the camera restarts, set the correct date and time first. Then format the memory card in the camera.

MENU PATH
System Settings → Default Settings → OK
System Settings → Date/Time Setting → Set the correct date and time
System Settings → Format → OK
⚠️ Warning: Formatting the memory card will erase all files, including locked videos, and they cannot be retrieved. Save important footage first.
Step 5
Start recording

Start recording and confirm the red dot/timer

Do not change any other settings. Press the OK button to start recording. You should see the flashing red dot and the recording timer counting up on the top-right area of the screen.

✅ What to look for: Flashing red dot + timer counting up = the camera is actively recording.
Step 6
Overnight test

Let the camera record overnight

After resetting and formatting the card, let the dash cam record overnight without interruption. In the morning, check the total trip timer. The total trip timer should show the total number of hours the camera recorded.

Example:
If the camera records for 12 hours, the total trip timer should show around 012:00:00. This means the camera recorded continuously without interruption.
✅ Optional: You may also keep the camera recording for 24 or 48 hours to confirm longer continuous recording.
Quick Summary

What confirms continuous recording?

🔌 Use uninterrupted wall power Testing at home removes the vehicle's power source from the troubleshooting process.
⏱️ Check total trip timer The timer should match the total hours recorded, such as 012:00:00 for 12 hours.
💾 Review the SD card on a computer Checking the files directly on a PC/Mac confirms whether clips were saved correctly.
