Dash Cam Screen is FrozenUpdated 11 days ago

ROVE Dash Cam Troubleshooting Guide

Dash Cam Screen is Frozen

If your dash cam screen is frozen and the buttons are not responding, use the steps below to restart the camera and check whether the issue is caused by power, the memory card, or the camera itself.

✅ Most frozen-screen issues can be cleared by restarting the camera or testing without the memory card.
🔁
Restart first
Unplug and reconnect the power cable to reboot the dash cam safely.
💾
Test without SD card
A faulty or slow memory card can sometimes cause freezing or unresponsive behavior.
📌
Reset button note
Some ROVE models have a RESET button. The ROVE R3 does not have a reset button.
What this means

A frozen screen usually means the camera needs to be restarted

If the screen is frozen and no buttons respond, the camera may be stuck temporarily. A quick restart usually clears the issue. If it happens again, the memory card or power source may need to be checked.

Follow the steps below in order. These steps are designed to isolate the most common causes without changing unnecessary settings.

Step-by-step fix

How to fix a frozen dash cam screen

Step 1
Quick restart

Unplug and reconnect the power cable

Remove the power cable from the dash cam, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. Turn the dash cam ON and check if the screen still freezes.

Tip: A power restart is the fastest way to clear a temporary frozen screen.
Step 2
Reset button

Press the RESET button once, if your model has one

If the screen is still frozen and no buttons respond, press the RESET button at the bottom of the camera once using a paper clip or the tip of a pen. This will restart the camera.

⚠️ ROVE R3 note: This step is not applicable to the ROVE R3 because the R3 does not have a reset button.
Step 3
Memory card test

Remove the memory card and test again

Power OFF the dash cam, remove the memory card, then power the dash cam back ON. Check whether the camera still freezes without the memory card inserted.

What the result means:
• If the camera stops freezing without the card: the memory card may be faulty, too slow, corrupted, or worn out.
If the camera still freezes without the card: continue troubleshooting or contact ROVE Customer Care.
Step 4
Try another card

Try a spare compatible memory card

If the dash cam works normally without the original memory card, try a spare compatible microSD card. This helps confirm whether the original card is causing the freeze.

Recommended: Use a genuine Class 10 / U3 microSD card. For best reliability, we recommend ROVE PRO, ROVE Ultimate, or ROVE Industrial microSD cards.
