ROVE Dash Cam Power Troubleshooting Guide

Dash Cam Repeatedly Turning ON and OFF

If your ROVE dash cam keeps restarting, turning ON and OFF, or cannot stay powered on, the most common cause is unstable or insufficient power. This may come from the USB car charger, USB power cable, vehicle power source, memory card, or in rare cases the dash cam itself.

✅ These steps help isolate whether the issue is caused by power, cable, memory card, or the camera.
🔌
Power issue likely
Repeated restarting usually points to unstable power from the outlet, charger, or USB cable.
🏠
Test at home
Use a stable wall outlet and phone USB charger to separate camera issues from vehicle power issues.
💾
Check SD card
A corrupted or failing memory card can sometimes cause unstable camera behavior.
Why this happens

The dash cam may not be receiving stable power.

When the camera repeatedly turns ON and OFF, it often means the dash cam is not receiving consistent power. The cause may be the vehicle’s USB/12V outlet, the USB car charger, the USB cable, or a loose connection.

The steps below are designed to narrow down the cause one part at a time so you know whether the issue is coming from the vehicle setup, power accessories, memory card, or the dash cam.

Step-by-step fix

How to troubleshoot repeated restarting?

Step 1
Reset camera

Reset the camera

Use a small object such as a paperclip or the tip of a pen to press the RESET button on the camera. This can clear temporary glitches that may cause the camera to restart repeatedly.

⚠️ Note: The reset button location may vary by model. If your model does not have a reset button, skip this step and continue with the power test.
Step 2
Stable power test

Test the dash cam with a reliable wall power source

Bring the dash cam indoors and plug it into a standard 110V wall outlet using your phone’s USB charger. Test the camera using both ROVE USB cables, if available.

What this test tells you:
• Works normally at home: the issue may be related to your vehicle's power outlet, USB car charger, or vehicle power setup.
Still restarts at home: continue with the memory card test and cable check.
Step 3
Test both cables

Test with both ROVE USB cables

While testing with the wall outlet, try both the long and short USB cables provided by ROVE. This helps identify whether one cable is loose, damaged, or not providing stable power.

Tip: If the camera only restarts with one cable, replace that cable or contact ROVE Customer Care for the next steps.
Step 4
Memory card test

Remove the memory card and retest

Turn OFF the camera, remove the memory card, then repeat the wall outlet test using both ROVE USB cables. A faulty or corrupted memory card can sometimes cause camera instability.

What the result means:
• Camera works without the card: the memory card may be corrupted, worn out, or incompatible.
Camera still restarts without the card: the issue may be related to power accessories or the camera itself.

Quick Summary

What usually causes repeated restarting?

🔌 Unstable power The vehicle outlet, USB car charger, or USB cable may not be providing steady power.
💾 Memory card issue A corrupted, worn-out, or incompatible memory card can sometimes cause instability.
🧪 Wall outlet test is important Testing indoors with a stable 110V wall outlet helps separate camera issues from vehicle power issues.
