Can I use my rear camera as a Reverse camera?Updated 3 days ago
We understand that some users may be interested in using the ROVE dash cam’s rear camera as a reverse (backup) camera. While this seems like a practical idea, we do not recommend it for several important reasons:
Traditional reverse cameras are directly connected to your vehicle’s infotainment system and are triggered automatically when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. The ROVE rear camera is not designed to interface with your car’s reverse gear detection or infotainment system.
The rear camera included with the ROVE dash cam system is intended for interior use only. It is not weatherproof and should not be mounted outside the vehicle, making it unsuitable for use as a traditional reverse cam.
The rear camera operates only when connected to the main ROVE dash cam unit. It does not function as a standalone device and cannot be powered or triggered independently.
While the ROVE rear camera provides valuable rear-view recording for driving and parking incidents, it is not a substitute for a dedicated reverse camera system. We recommend using your vehicle’s built-in reverse camera (if available) or installing a purpose-built system designed specifically for that function.
We hope this makes sense and answers your question.
